Vicky Lynn Grider

Vicky Lynn (Fleener) Grider, 49, of Martinsville was called to enter the gates of heaven on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in Hendricks Regional Hospital, Danville. One of six children, Vicky was born in Greensburg, IN, on January 11, 1973, to the late Lester Lee and Judy Lynn (Keihn) Fleener. The third child to arrive, Vicky attended North Decatur High School and grew up in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area near Greensburg and Shelbyville. Meeting her right-hand man and life partner while both working at the Harvest Market, the story of Vicky and Jamey Grider was made official on November 23, 1990. Blessed to be the mother of five children, Vicky loved nothing more than to be surrounded by the sixteen grandbabies that have come to know her as Nanny. In addition to being a stay-at-home mom, she was a landlord and previously held part time positions as a cashier at Value Market and the Monrovia Dairyland. An avid Mickey Mouse collector, Vicky enjoyed going out to eat with her husband and she thoroughly enjoyed treating herself to much needed self-care, frequently getting her nails and hair done. Vicky was a real down to earth, generously kind and caring person. Known to take up conversations with strangers, she was a humble selfless servant who stayed attentive to the needs of others. Experienced in retail and customer service, she was a natural to engage in small talk. She lived a life of faith, attending many services at the Monrovia Nazarene Church. Her loving demeanor was paired with a great sense of humor. Possessing a more than fair share of sarcasm and wits, she could bounce just about any topic into a conversation, and it made her easy to approach and feel comfortable to engage. Vicky lived to love, lift and carry the precious beings that circled her world, and she will forever be missed. Vicky leaves behind her husband of 21 years Jamey Grider of Martinsville; children Jimmy Grider (Becky) of Monrovia, Christopher Grider of Martinsville, Ashley Reedy (Pablo) of Columbus, Tiffany Smith (Joseph) of Clayton, and Charlie Grider (Faith) of Martinsville; grandmother Aline Keihn; siblings Sherry Johnson (Jesse) of Shelbyville, Bobby Fleener of St. Paul, Joe Fleener (Angie), Jenny Taylor (Clint), and Susie Mays (John), all of Shelbyville; grandchildren Kieffer, Wesley, David, Katelynn, Austin, Aiden, Stephanie, A.J., Giovanni, Sebastian, Hunter, Hayden, Aubrey, harper, Dixie, Zachary, and Waylon. Friends and family are invited to gather from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel with a Celebration of Life Service beginning promptly at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Pitman will officiate, and burial will follow in Center Valley Cemetery.
