Sandy L. Smith

Saundra L. "Sandy" (Corcoran) Smith, 72, of Mooresville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on February 20, 1944, in Mooresville, to the late Donald Corcoran and Viola (Cooper) Corcoran Wilcoxan. After graduating from Mooresville High School in 1962, Sandy bravely packed up and moved to California to join her soulmate, William “Bill” Smith. They were united in marriage on June 6th and lived on base at the Marine Corps Exchange in 29 Palms. Blessed to share two boys and 54 years of marriage, Bill and Sandy resided for a period of time in Friendswood, North Carolina, Heritage Lake, Plainfield and then Mooresville, where they have resided for the past 14 years. Sandy selflessly devoted her life to God and always put her family first. She genuinely cared for others and willing sacrificed herself to provide love and care to several terminally ill loved ones during their last hours. In addition, she was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Mooresville and past member of the Mooresville Tri Kappa. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening in her flower beds and interior painting. Sandy was known to have different colors on the walls with each changing season. An inspirational, hardworking and compassionate woman, she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Survivors include her loving husband, William "Bill" Smith of Mooresville; to whom she was united in marriage on June 6, 1962; son, Kevin Smith (wife, Tonia) of Camby; grandchildren, Brianna, Royse, Samantha, Jacob, Luke, Haleigh, Kelsey and Jordan; sister-in-laws, Jeannie Miller (husband, Dave) and Dianne McDermott (husband, Paul) both of Beech Grove; brother-in-law, Edward Zyzys of Arizona. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Todd Smith; siblings, Carolyn Sue Zyzys and John Cosand. Visitation will be held from 11am to 2pm, on Monday, August 29, 2016, at the Mooresville First United Methodist Church, 900 Indianapolis Road, with the Funeral Service beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in White Lick Cemetery and Rev. Dennis Payton will be officiating the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
