Ronald "Ron" Lee Kays

Ronald “Ron” Lee Kays, 62, of Monrovia, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Indianapolis on September 28, 1961, to the late Donald Lee “Possum” and Margaret Ann (Anderson) Kays. Ron was a proud graduate with the class of 1980 from Monrovia High School, where he was a member of the track and wrestling teams. After graduation, he enrolled in trade school to study HVAC, a skill he used for over 40 years. He most recently worked for TOA and was a member of the Auxiliary Sammy L. Davis Post 1111, as well as a Son of the American Legion Post 103. With his outgoing personality, Ron never met a stranger. The life of the party, he enjoyed playing cards. His smile and laugh were completely contagious, and he brought joy into the lives of all who were blessed to know and love him. He will be forever missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Lee and Margaret Ann (Anderson) Kays and his brother, David Brian Kays. Ron leaves behind his best friend and soulmate, Dara (Hadley) Kays; beloved children, Sarah (Ben) Pacy, and Emily (Maurice) Embry; stepchildren, Parker (Kiersten) Hadley, Jace Piper, Hadley Piper, and Worthy Piper; siblings, Donald (Rhonda) Kays, Leann (John) Stahley, Thomas (Deana) Kays and Chrissy (Doug) Kenipe; 6 grandchildren; along with a wide circle of friends. Funeral and cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 12, from 3:00pm until a Celebration of Life Memorial Service that will begin at 6:00pm, and Keenan Steinway will officiate. Following the service, friends and family are invited to continue the celebration of Ron’s life at the Mooresville Sammy L. Davis Post 1111, 411 S Indiana St., Mooresville, IN 46158, where he will be bestowed with the Sons of the American Legion Ceremony, as well as the VFW Auxiliary Ceremony. Ron will be inurned in Mt.
