Michael Lee Heilman

Michael Lee “Mike” Heilman, 58, of Indianapolis and formerly of Monrovia, passed from this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, in his home. He was born in Greensburg, Indiana on April 3, 1964, to Karl L. and Karen S. (Sneed) Heilman. Moving to Monrovia as a small child, Mike was the oldest of two boys. Known for his rambunctious personality as a young child, he was curious by nature, finding great pleasure in learning how machines worked, often taking them apart much to his parents’ dismay. A life-long student within the Monrovia School System, Mike was proud to be in the class of 1982. After high school, he picked up roots and headed to the tropical climate of Florida for a period, before settling in Texas, where he met his wife. An extremely talented and innovative mechanic, Mike had many employment endeavors throughout the years. He held positions with Weber Concrete, Best Tire and Auto on the near west side of Indianapolis, Rick’s Muffler in Mooresville, along with owning his own shop Mike’s Auto, before landing with Systec Services. A gentle soul, Mike was a protective big brother and loved his mother dearly. A man of few words, he meant what he said when provoked to speak up, and you always knew where you stood with him. He will be forever missed. He was preceded in death by his favorite grandpa, Howard “Bill” Sneed, and Aunt Patty Sneed Hoy. Mike leaves behind his parents, Karl, and Karen Heilman of Monrovia; brother, Darron Heilman (Sharon Norris) of Mooresville; niece, Raeann Heilman (Brandon Hedges) of Indianapolis, and nephew, Bradlee Heilman of Mooresville; former wife, Beulah (Kirby) Heilman, along with step grandson, London Pelfry. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Per Mike’s wishes, no services will be held at this time and his remains will be laid to rest in Haw Creek Cemetery in Hope, IN, at later date.
