Lorrenea Calahan

Lorrenea May (Miles) Calahan, 82, of Monrovia, passed away in the comfort of her residence on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 12:15 PM, while surrounded by the love of her family. Born on March 29, 1944, in Indianapolis, Lorrenea was the cherished daughter of the late James and Lenora May Miles. She grew up attending Arsenal Technical High School. On July 27th, she married her beloved husband, Thomas Ellis “Pops” Calahan, with whom she built a beautiful life sharing 57 years together until his passing in 2020. Beginning their journey in Gasburg, they eventually moved to Wilbur and were blessed with four sons and one daughter. A dedicated homemaker who also spent time doing factory work in Plainfield, Lorrenea was a strong, capable, and wonderfully stubborn woman. She was a natural mentor with a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a heart like no other. She fought a courageous seven-year battle with cancer, facing her journey with inspiring resilience. Lorrenea found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing, knitting, shopping on Amazon, and she had a special talent for propagating seeds and flowers—even growing vegetables to share at the local farmer's market. In addition, she was a fantastic dancer who loved purple, and could often be found listening to oldies and country music. Above all, she adored her family and two loyal canine companions, Tank and Bo. Lorrenea leaves behind a rich legacy of love, strength, and beautiful memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Calahan; beloved son, Ruffice Calahan; grandson, Logan. Survivors include her children, Timothy Calahan (Melissa) of Avon, Jeffery Calahan (Monica) of Monrovia, Vincent Calahan (Dana) of Monrovia, Kimberly Pruitt (Mark) of Monrovia; grandchildren, Angel, Kate, Allison, Sarah, Erin, Ethan, Sean, James, Kira, Britny, and Michael; 15 great grandchildren; nephew, James Arthur Rudick; and a host of extended family members and friends. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Lorrenea’s life and visit from 11:00am, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, until the Celebration of Life Service begins at 1:00pm, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, Monrovia.
