Laura "Sue" Hood

Laura “Sue” (Harris) Hood, 79, of Clayton, passed away on June 21, 2026, at Methodist Hospital, in Indianapolis. Born at Mercy Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on August 16, 1946, she was the daughter of Dorothy and Hoy Harris, Jr. Sue, as her family and friends affectionately called her, was known for her generous heart, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for those around her. She found great joy in giving to others and helping those she loved. Whether as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, or friend, she touched the lives of many with her kindness and devotion. Sue was a 1962 graduate of Highland High School in Sparta, Ohio. She raised her two daughters, Tammy and Julie, with determination, strength, and unconditional love. Sue enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her homemade pies for family and friends. She often reminisced about her childhood growing up on the family farm in Ohio with her four beloved siblings and the many memories they shared together. Sue loved the Lord and found great joy in His creation. She especially enjoyed flowers, nature, and the simple pleasures of life. Some of her happiest moments were spent sitting on her porch, watching the birds and squirrels, and appreciating the beauty and peacefulness of country life. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Harris; nephew, Joshua Harris; and husband, Harlan Hood. Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Wayne) McCoy and Julie (Richard) Figg; sisters, Connie Clark and Linda Dickey; brother, Rusty (Kim) Harris; a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Sue will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, Monrovia. The family gathered privately for a graveside service officiated by Pastor Mark Cox and she was laid to rest aside her late husband in Clayton Cemetery.
