Harold Bolin

Harold Eugene Bolin, 81, of Monrovia, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Franciscan Health Mooresville. He was born on September 15, 1944, in Vanduser, Missouri, to the late William "Edward" Bolin and Ruby (Hatcher) Bolin. Harold graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1961, where he played baseball. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1962 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. A proud Marine veteran, he cherished his military service and regularly attended Marine Corps reunions. Upon returning home on leave, Harold reconnected with a high school acquaintance, Darlene Lough, on a blind date. Their whirlwind romance blossomed instantly; he took her to church the very next day, proposed just eight days later, and they were married on October 9, 1966. Together, they shared a beautiful, dedicated marriage of 60 years. Upon discharge from serving his country, Harold went to work for Chrysler, spending 42 dedicated years as a highly skilled tradesman. Deeply committed to public service, he also served his community as a Morgan County Reserve Officer. Harold’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a member of Eternal Life Tabernacle in Indianapolis, where he served as a deacon. He was very faithful, reading his Bible every morning and finding great comfort and purpose in his relationship with God. He was always willing to lend a hand at church and to help others whenever he could. Outside of work and church, Harold had many interests that brought him joy. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading. He had a love for the Friendship, Indiana area, and was always eager to help others. He even volunteered at the Boy Scout shooting events, where he enjoyed being able to lend his knowledge and assistance. After retirement, Harold continued looking for ways to serve, often visiting residents in local nursing homes. Above all, Harold was a hard worker with a generous heart. His intelligence, wonderful memory, strong work ethic and genuine care for people left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Bolin and Bonnie Ottinger. Harold is survived by his wife, Darlene L. Bolin of Monrovia; children, Kenneth Bolin of Mooresville, Steven Bolin (Betty) of Camby, and Michelle "Shelly" Bolin of Mooresville; brother, James "Jim" Bolin (Teresa) of Mooresville; grandchildren, Danyelle Hopper (Zach) of Shelbyville, Sierra Perrin (Brenton) of Greenwood, Joshua Decker of Mooresville, McKayla Parrish (Drew) of Ft Riley, Kansas, and Izzy Bolin of Mooresville; along with his great-grandchildren, Brayton, and Jax Perrin, and Evie Pingelton-Parrish . Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 11:00am until a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:00pm., with Pastor Mark Pingleton officiating, and interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall with full military honors.
