Bernice Pieczko

Bernice (Clark) Williams Pieczko, 84, of Quincy, was called to Heaven at 7:30 pm, on Friday, October 25, 2019, while surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her own home. She was born at home on March 1, 1935 in Black Oak, Arkansas to the late Homer and Blanch (Qualls) Clark. Raised in Arkansas until she was fifteen, Bernice’s family moved to Indiana where her father secured work and she obtained her GED from Ben Davis high school. As a single, hard working mother, Bernice not only learned how to make a dollar stretch she also instilled into her children how to enjoy the simple things in life. A talented, beautiful and caring matriarch, Bernice had no limits. She excelled in all forms of art, from painting, knitting, crocheting, sewing and even woodworking. An exceptional cook, she took great pride in preparing the finest home cooked meals to feed the ones she loved. A previous employee for Kroger in Mooresville for sixteen years, Bernice went on to open her own restaurant in 1979, Biscuit Junction, where she met the love of her life, Sonny Pieczko. The two dated for several years before taking a trip to Las Vegas where they were united in marriage on October 28, 1987. Sonny became a cherished father figure to her children. Later in life, the two found their passion in traveling the world. Leading a life of purpose, Bernice was never afraid to ask for a helping hand. Her family describes her “love language” as being equaled to acts of service. She treasured helping others, and in her failing health, she still managed to crochet beautiful baby clothes for her newest great granddaughter. Bernice’s eyes always lit up every time Sonny entered a room; they were soul mates until the end. Known to all as Grandma Niece, she will be deeply missed. Along with her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Williams and her sister, Verneal Clark Troxler. Bernice leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Sonny Pieczko of Quincy; children, Danny Williams (wife, Diana) of Monrovia, Julie Shuman (husband, Rick) of Avon, and Perry Williams (wife, Cindy) of Brownsburg; brother, Bruce Clark (wife, Julie) of Danville; grandchildren, Tad, Samra, Adam, Stephanie, Vanessa, Jay, Zach, Jessica and Kesha; fourteen great grandchildren; and beloved fur baby, Bella. Friends and Family are invited to gather to celebrate Bernice’s life from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019, at the Gasburg Baptist Church, 11564 N Gasburg Rd, Mooresville, IN. Pastor Jack Elliott will officiate a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow, without procession, at Hudson Hill Cemetery in Spencer. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia and Pastor Jack Elliott will officiate the service.
