Arletta Marie (Jones) Brady

Arletta Marie (Jones) Brady, 88, of Monrovia, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on December 5, 1931, in Maysel, West Virginia, to the late Darnell Earl Jones & Maysel (Haze) Boggs. Raised in the vast beauty of the mountains of West Virginia during World War II, Arletta learned the value of a dollar through hard work and perseverance; selling haircuts for soap, picking berries for food, traveling to the creek to fetch water, and milking the cow. Graduating in 1950 from the Clay County School System in West Virginia, she met her future husband at a roller-skating rink. The two moved to Indiana to unite in marriage and start their family of five children; four boys and one girl. Arletta went to work in the Social Security Office in Martinsville, where she worked her way up the ladder, retiring from the State Office Building in the Employment Security Division in 1993. One of the sweetest ladies you would have ever met, Arletta was also stubborn; but that was why she lived such a long life. Always cooking and/or taking care of someone; she did a fantastic job at both. She loved baking, her kids, grandkids and great grandkids & her cat DC. Her family is thankful that they had time to spend with her at the end, and she was able to share her wishes for how she passed; on her terms no one else's. They loved her all the way to heaven. Their loss is heavens gain. She will be deeply missed. Along with her parents, Arletta was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Roy Brady; son, Roy Brady, and brother, Jim Jones. Arletta is survived by her children, Reva Jo Lloyd (husband, Tim) of Monrovia, Steve Brady of Monrovia, Mike Brady (girlfriend, Rhonda) of Indianapolis, and Jeff Brady of Monrovia; siblings, Sharon Bryant (husband, Richard) of Martinsville, Jean “Bean” Jones, of Plainfield, Norma Mascoe (husband, Bob) of Paragon, and David Jones; grandchildren, Heather Baudendistel (husband, Dennis) of Clayton, Mandy Surber (husband, Chad) of Monrovia, and Dr. Chelsie Brady (boyfriend, Wade) of Rome, Georgia; great grandkids, Katie, Emily and Cody Surber; and beloved kitty, D.C.. Friends and family are invited to gather from 2 to 5 pm, on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, beginning at 10am, with a Celebration Of Life Service beginning promptly at 11am. Pastor Jack Elliott will officiate, and burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
