Valerie (Nelson) Gott
September 25, 1991 - January 17, 2022
Valerie Michelle (Nelson) Gott, 30, of Eminence, was unexpectedly called to pass from this life on Monday, January 17, 2022, after enduring a pulmonary embolism while recovering from a cold. The only child born to Bill and the late Kimberly (Mead) Nelson, Valerie entered this world in Indianapolis, on September 25, 1991. Valerie was a 2010 graduate of Monrovia High School, where she pursued an interest in the family tradition of showing swine in the 4-H Club: receiving recognition for being a ten-year member, attending and competing in national shows, and even enrolling to study livestock judging at Black Hawk College. The Morgan County 4H-Club, along with her love for animals has been monumental to Val’s story. Falling in love with her high school sweetheart, Valerie was united in marriage with Justin Lee Gott and together they established a family of their own with Miss Brooklyn. Holding employment at Target in Plainfield, Val worked her way up to management and oversaw the font customer service desk when she decided to be a stay-at-home mom. Taking after her mother with a love for stuffed animals, Val and Brooklyn were two peas in a pod and as a team of three they stayed busy with spending time with friends, flea marketing, yard selling, school, and girl scouts. Above all, Valerie was an outgoing, fun, and friendly person. A loyal volunteer, she was an assistant girl scout leader, Eastern Star member, and a friend to help anyone in need. Driving all over to run for clubs and remain active at the animal shows, Val was able to see most of the United States within her allotted time. She and Justin both enjoyed getting the boat out on the lake and Valerie’s guilty pleasures included baking, shopping, accessorizing, and learning new makeup tips, along with a pit stop to custom order a double-triple chocolate brownie blizzard from Dairy Queen. Her favorite color was purple, and she loved to pair it with teal and throw in some cowhide and cheetah print. A life lived full and free, she made a lasting impression on many within her short time and her legacy lives in the hearts of all who were blessed to get to love her. A loving wife to her devoted husband Justin, Val was her parents’ entire world, and her grandparents loved her dearly. The friend to stand up for many, her greatest joy and purpose was made clear whom God chose her to be the best mom, mommy and mother to her seven-year-old mini shadow princess, Brooklyn Marie and the faithful, supportive, and loyal woman who wouldn’t dare turn down for anything that didn’t put her family first. Preceded in death by her mother, Kimberly (Mead) Nelson; maternal grandfather, John Mead; paternal grandparents, Lawrence, and Mary Nelson; and father-in-law, Bill Gott. Survivors include her loving husband and best friend, Justin Lee Gott of Eminence; seven year-old daughter and center of her world, Brooklyn Marie Gott; father, Bill Nelson and step mother, Doris Marie Mendoza of Monrovia; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Mead of Monrovia; mother-in-law, Debbie Gott of Amo and step-mother-law, Marsha Got; brother in law, Billy Gott (wife, Joy) of Monrovia; and two canine fur kids, Minnie, the basset hound and Ariel, the toy Australian shepherd; along with a host of extended family members, friends and acquaintances with in the county. A Life Celebration and Eastern Star Service is at 4:30pm, on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, with calling held prior from 3pm.
