Pam Cooper
April 2, 1951 - April 25, 2022
Pamela “Pam” J. (McGinnis) Cooper, 71, of Monrovia, gained her angel wings in the early morning hours of Monday, April 25, 2022, in the comfort of her home. She was born on April 2, 1951, in Bloomington, IN to the late Robert L. and Phyllis J. (Acuff) McGinnis. A proud 1969 graduate from Monrovia High School, she earned a degree as a beautician, fashionably styling many a head of hair. Meeting the man of her dreams Harold while attending high school, the pair were united in marriage on July 10, 1971, spending their honeymoon in the family’s favorite vacation destination, Gatlinburg, TN. Pam was a member of the Gasburg Baptist Church. She wore several hats throughout the years, working as a florist, a Home Interior Consultant, a teacher’s aide with the Plainfield and Avon school systems, along with successfully owning and operating ceramic and craft stores. She always enjoyed creating things with her hands. A master with ceramics, she invented the popular white ducks that adorned yards throughout the Midwest, selling them in places like Brown County, Metamora, and Union Station. A stern yet sweet matriarch, her true passion was her family, passing on her high standards to her adored daughters. Fully involved in all activities, Pam put her children first, becoming a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, as well as an active member of the PTO. With a gift for crafting and cooking, she was an artist at heart and relished in hosting holidays. A hands-on Grammy, she held a deep love for her two granddaughters Taylor and Tara, selflessly spending her days making memories with them. As Pam’s health began to fail in the last several years, Harold, her ultimate teammate, remained by her side, gallantly tending to her every need or want, never missing a beat. While she continued to be strong willed in the face of adversity, in the end she left a legacy of love and light and will be deeply and profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pam leaves behind her husband, Harold Cooper of Monrovia; daughters, Tonya Sconce (Todd) and Tammy Cooper (Mike) all of Mooresville; sister, Nancy Fisher (Barth) of Spencer; granddaughters, Taylor, and Tara Sconce of Mooresville; along with her nieces, Jessica, and Hannah Fisher of Indianapolis. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Gathering of Friends & Family will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, from 12:00p.m., until 2:00p.m., at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will begin promptly at 2:00p.m., and Pastor Jack Elliott will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Pam’s family asks for memorial contributions to be made for a local family in need but would like to remain anonymous. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home or may be mailed to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, 585 E Main St, Monrovia, IN 46157.
