Mary E. Evans

December 20, 1928 - January 3, 2022

Mary Elizabeth (Patrick) Evans, 93, of Eminence, entered the gates of heaven on Monday, January 3, 2022, rejoining her beloved husband, Jesse. She was born in Amo the youngest child of three on December 20, 1928, to the late Loren C. and Clara (Watson) Patrick. Raised on a small farm in the rustic countryside, Mary attended Eminence High School, proudly graduating with the class of 1946. It was there she met her soulmate, Jesse. The high school sweethearts fell fast in love and were blissfully united in holy matrimony on Christmas Eve, 1946. The newlywed couple planted their roots in Crown Center, establishing the family farm, which Mary loyally ran until she was 90 years old. A devoted member of the Eminence First Baptist Church, she was fervent in her faith as a strong Christian woman, with the soul of a servant. Eternally family oriented, Mary was an exemplary matriarch and supportive wife, continuously tending to her family’s needs and wants, keeping an immaculate home. A truly amazing cook and seamstress, her organizational skills remained impeccable throughout her life. A quiet natured woman with a heart of gold, she truly believed actions speak louder than words. She will be profoundly missed for her gentle spirit and loving presence. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 72 wonderful years Jesse A. Evans, and siblings Edgar Patrick and Norma Buchanan. She leaves behind her two adored daughters Jill Shields (husband, Tommy) of Monrovia, and Phyllis Quintana (husband, Armando) of Eminence; grandchildren Amy Teipan (husband, Wayne) of Greencastle, Shannon Sims (wife, Stacie) of Monrovia, Jason Sims of Eminence, Megan Sims of Eminence, Blane Shields (wife, Amy) of Alpha, IL, and Travis Shields (wife, Amy) of Indianapolis; great grandchildren Ashlyn, Ameya, Ava, Abigail, Josie, Joel, Michael, Arianna, Alorelei, Preston, Regan, and Emerson; along with great great grandson Forrest. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mannan Cemetery with a private Graveside Service.
