Carlos E. Tormos Jr
May 31, 1967 - May 12, 2022
Carlos Enrique Tormos, Jr., 54, of Monrovia, left this world unexpectedly, gaining his angel wings on Thursday, May 12, 2022. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 31, 1967, to Carlos E, Sr., and Clara (Mercado) Tormos. The oldest of three boys, Carlos played a key role in his younger brother’s lives, helping raise them while both parents worked, keeping them in line, and at times baking their precious hot wheels in the oven to prove his point. A 1985 graduate from Academia Advenista Metropolitana High School, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army selflessly serving his country for four years. While working as a flight attendant for Trans Ocean Airlines in 1989, he met the love of his life and knight in shining armor, Jay Allen. Like a bee to honey, Carlos was fully smitten with his newfound soulmate, spending 32 years together, later vowing their unending love on June 26, 2014. Settling in the tropical climate of southern Florida, he continued his education studying Microsoft engineering, along with business and computer science, earning his associates degree at Southwest Florida College. Moving to Fort Myers in 2002, the pair opened the APEX Dance Club. Yearning for the comfort of the quiet country life, Carlos and Jay packed their bags and headed north, bringing with them Carlos’ BFF, Curt. In 2005 they began construction of their forever house on family property, sharing 17 glorious years together on the hill they called home. A knowledgeable and talented Personal Banker for JP Morgan Chase, Carlos deservingly retired after 7 years of dedicated service to stay home and be the caregiver for not only Jay, but all the birds, chickens, dogs, and cats he passionately saved and nurtured. Stylish by nature, Carlos had quite the flair for fashion, fixating on his glowing, youthful appearance, never missing a beat when it came to looking and smelling like a million bucks. Superman was his hero, and he reveled in collecting all things associated with the caped, handsome star. Receiving credit on an Erasure CD, he submitted his lyrics for the song “Sweet Summer Loving” with his beloved Jay in mind. Above all, Carlos deeply loved his family, especially his mami. He left this world too soon and will be endlessly missed. Carlos is preceded in death by his father, Carlos E. Tormos, Sr. He leaves behind his husband, Jay S. Allen of Monrovia; mother, Clara Tormos; brothers, Natanial and Johnathan Tormos all of of San Juan, Puerto Rico; longtime BFF, aka witch, Curt Hills of Monrovia; nieces and nephews, Nataniel Jr. and Natalia Tormos, Em, Sam, and Lucy Allen; brother-in-law, Mike Allen (Lori) of Monrovia; father-in-law, Dave Allen of Monrovia; along with his beloved fur babies, Bella, Bonnie, Zoey, and Sasha. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm, on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Service begin at 11:00am, on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the funeral home, with additional calling held an hour prior.
