William "Bill" L. Lloyd

William “Bill” L. Lloyd, 74, of Monrovia, passed peacefully from this life in the early morning hours of Friday, August 11, 2023, while in the comfort of his home. He was born in Bedford, IN on March 21, 1949, to the late Frank H. and Dorothy (Chastain) Lloyd. A proud graduate with the class of 1968 at Manual High School, Bill secured employment with Indianapolis Power and Light, where he worked his way up the company ladder deservingly retiring in 2001 after 33 years of dedicated service. While working there, he met the love of his life and best friend, Louann. Enamored with her beauty, Bill would wait in a hallway until he could see her every day. Finally making the move to get her phone number, the two shared a brief courtship before vowing their never-ending love on September 1, 1979. Settling in Morgan County, Bill and Louann purchased their forever home in Monrovia in 1983. With the love of traveling instilled in their bones, the pair took many a trip on Bill’s Honda Trike across the United States to destinations such as Michigan, the Dakotas, Kentucky to visit his kids, and his most favorite place, Colorado. Camping regularly in Parke County, the two later spent the winters in Texas making lifelong friendships with those they met. A kind and caring soul, Bill was a devoted father who loved his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and taking his chances on the slot machines, as well as solving the world’s political problems with his buddies, Harold and Bill. A loving and loyal husband, he and Louann didn’t have children together, but they found joy in playing the role of surrogate parents and grandparents to those around them. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Lloyd and Shermetta Davidson, and grandson, Justin Williams. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Louann (Griffith) Lloyd of Monrovia; children, Tracy Lloyd-Williams (Jerry) of Franklin, KY, and William “Billy” Lloyd of Somerset, KY; siblings, Wayne Lloyd (Brenda) of Indianapolis, Mona Glick (John) of Greenwood; grandchildren, Bryant Williams (Ali) of Franklin, KY, Alec Williams (Chloe) of Paducah, KY, Christian Williams of Franklin, KY, Alyssa Anderson (Caleb) of Alvaton KY, Mason Lloyd, Evan Lloyd, and Allison Webster all of Somerset, KY, and; along with 7 great grandchildren and a host of friends that were like family. Funeral and cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023, with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service beginning promptly at 1:00pm, and Pastor Mark Boardman will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 6413 N Baltimore Rd, Monrovia, IN 46157, and envelopes will be available during services.
