William Baudendistel

William H. “Bill” Baudendistel, 85, of Indianapolis, entered the gates of Heaven on December 25, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1936, in Indianapolis and was raised by his late aunt Cecil Baudendistel. Raised in the quaint, rustic neighborhood of Irvington, Bill proudly graduated from Howe High School with the class of 1956. He married the love of his life, Lois, on November 30, 1968, and the happy couple purchased their forever home on the southwest side of Indianapolis in late summer of ’71. Bill secured employment with Diamond Chain as a jewelry designer, later retiring from Herff Jones in March of 2000. In his off time, he utterly enjoyed working as a “Yellow Shirt”, for 50 years, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he acquired his enthusiasm for racing. A true man of faith Bill was a devoted member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for several years. One not to sit still, he was frequently found in his yard tending to the various fruit trees, ensuring his home, along with his yard, was immaculately kept. His weekends were spent on Geist Reservoir with his kids fishing, or taking them to various county fairs, Monster truck Jams, IMS, or any nearby track. A truly gentle man, Bill was one of the most caring person you ever met. Although shy by nature, he would give the shirt off of his back if he thought you needed it. He left an indelible mark on all who knew and loved him, and will be forever missed. He leaves behind his loving wife Lois Ann (Jett) Baudendistel of Indianapolis; beloved children Dennis Baudendistel (wife, Heather) of Clayton, and Susan Smith (husband, Kenny) of Indianapolis. Along with his aunt Cecil, Bill was preceded in death by his biological parents Harry Eugene and Mary (King) Baudendistel, and sister, Mary Geoghagan. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. All services will be held at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1150 St. Rd. 144, Mooresville, IN 46158. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 30. A Celebration of Life Service will begin promptly at 10:30 am on Friday, December 31, with an additional hour of calling held prior. Pastor Brandon Sichting will officiate, and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
