Tina Jean Barden

Tina “Wreckless” Jean (Pettyjohn) Barden, 47, of Martinsville, passed from this life on Friday, June 23, 2023, while in the care of St. Francis South Hospital. She was born on August 18, 1975 in Carthage, Missouri, to the late Donald Pettyjohn, and Connie Erskin. A proud graduate of Brown County High School, Tina attended with the class of 95 and furthered her studies at Indiana Business College and Ivy Tech. Tina was most recently employed at Grand Valley Nursing Home as a hospitality aid. She was a member of the Native American Council, a volunteer on the Paragon Fire Auxiliary and also served as past chaplain for the Riders for Youth & Innocence. She married the love of her life, Leon Barden on August 9, 1997; to whom they were blessed to share in completing their family with three children, Dawn, Kinga and De Rell. In her free time, Tina thoroughly enjoyed ripping through the wind on her beautiful white Can Am Spyder alongside her beloved husband and friends and she was proud to have her own bike. In addition to charity rides, Tina liked to play games on her phone, dabble in photography, and get creative with diamond painting,. Having a special place in her heart for man's most loyal companion, she really loved dogs and would rescue as many that her home could hold. The queen of selfies, she enjoyed taking pictures when people got together and she loved to cut loose and have a good time. Tina was released to fly in spirit and her memory remains with loved ones that shared in her same path. Along with her father, Tina was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Dreama (Scott) Barden. Tina leaves behind her husband of 25 years, Leon W. Barden; mother, Connie Erskin; children, Dawn, Kinga, and De Rell Barden; siblings, Robert Pettyjohn, Rebecca Nicholas, Tim Pettyjohn, Bobby Clark, Gary Spicer, and John Lee; father and mother-in-law Doug and Gigi Barden of Martinsville; siblings-in-law, Mike, Bill, and La Shore Barden; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral and Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 2pm. The family will gather to celebrate Tina's life for a Celebration held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, ,meeting at 11:30am at the Barden Compound and riding the bikes to Fairfield Indian Mounds for a service that will begin around 2pm and circle back to the residence for the final celebration to start around five, with food and fellowship to follow.
