Sydney "Syd" Glenn Hinchman

Sydney “Syd” Glenn Hinchman, 57, of Monrovia, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 21, at 4:40 PM. He was born on June 11, 1963, the youngest of three children to Herman “Hank” R. and Luvena (Porter) Hinchman. A proud 1981 Monrovia High School graduate, Syd followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming one of Indiana’s top machinists. Blessed with hands that were born to create, he was employed with Midwest Aircraft. Passionate about his workmanship, he designed many tools on his own to help with the making of airplane parts. Syd was very talented, he even invented a talking Golf putter. A dare devil by nature, Syd loved the adrenaline rush of fast cars, motorcycles, sky diving and riding rollercoasters, especially with his daughters. An awesome driver, he held the fastest track record racing Go Karts at the Whiteland Raceway Park for many years and won a lot of the Grand Prix Karting races he participated in throughout the years. Cherishing all things motorized, in his later years, he was especially akin to “Old Blue”, his ’69 Ford Galaxy, and his black 2001 Road King Harley. Selfless, friendly, but shy, and most of all a very caring & loving individual, Syd was always there to lend a hand to others and hardly ever would allow others to help him. He enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family, and being a caring Papaw to his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, Syd leaves behind his step mother, Carole Hinchman of Carolina Shores, NC; his loving daughters, Ashley Martinez (husband, Jerry) of Camby, and Haley Walker (husband, Sean) of Plainfield; siblings, Vena Holden (husband, Art) of Martinsville, and Herman “Speedy” Hinchman of Martinsville; adored grandchildren, Olivia, Dakota, Breeze, Luvy and Eli; along with nephews, Ryan Hinchman (wife, April) of Plainfield, and Will Perry (wife, Tiffany) of Camby. Cremation Arrangements were entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. His family will hold an intimate Celebration of Life for close friends and family, and Pastor Jeff Fall will lead the service.
