Shelby Jean Bradley

Shelby Jean Bradley, 85, entered the pearly gates of Heaven on Saturday, November 5, 2022, while in the comfort of her home. She was born on March 18, 1937, to the late Blake B. and Bertha L. (Walker) Bradley. Raised on a farm in the rural life of North Carolina, she was a proud graduate from Harris High School. Shelby met and married Stan Luhman. He was stationed in Japan, Alabama, and finally moving to Indiana, where they raised their three beautiful daughters. While Shelby stayed at home to take care of the girls, she also diligently held a position working from home with American States insurance Company. Later in life, and when the kids had lives of their own, Shelby worked hard to obtain her producer’s license to open her own insurance company in Danville, Shelby J. and Associates. In 1992, she began her forever career with US Air as a talented international reservationist. A woman of true faith and Christianity, she held Jesus close to her heart and was a faithful member of the Plainfield Christian Church. Energetic by nature and possessing a heart of gold, Shelby didn’t know a stranger. With an inner light that burned bright, people were naturally drawn to her, especially children. A strict mother, she ensured her girls were instilled with courtesy, strong morals, and manners. She enjoyed crocheting, reading books and traveling the world. A truly kindhearted soul, she leaves a legacy of light and love that will burn on in the hearts of all who knew her. Along with her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her siblings, Thelma Curtis and Rene Sims, grandson, Blake Howard, and son in law, Mark Lindsay. She leaves behind her daughters, Shana Lindsay of Camby, Sheri Ziemann of Chicago, IL, and Sarisa Stumpf (Clint) of Crawfordsville; previous husband, Stan Luhman of Indianapolis; siblings, Calvin Bradley (Rita) of Texico, NM, Coble Bradley (Cathy) of Lake Lure, NC, and Carolyn Weast (Dan) of Yelm, Wa; grandchildren, Blaine Howard Cline (D.J.), Matthew Chance (Ashley), Jessica Chance, Jordan Miller, Holdan Miller (Kelsey), and Hope Ziemann (Dale); and great grandchildren, Ava, Aydan, Addyx, Averie, Devin, Holdan, Jr., and Isabelle. Cremation and Memorial Service Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Gathering of Friends & Family will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 2:00p.m., until 4:00p.m., at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service beginning promptly at 4:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or online at https://www.stjude.org/give.html.
