Ronald "Ron" Gene Ross

Ronald “Ron G. Ross, 65, of Monrovia, passed from this life on Monday, July 12, 2021, with his loving family by his side while in the care of IU West Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis on October 8, 1955, to the late James “Rice” and Elsie Mae (Wallace) Ross. A proud 1973 graduate from John Marshall High School, Ron discovered his innate ability to understand the complexities of all machinery, and the talent to repair anything mechanical. A thoroughly strong and independent man, he opened and managed his own small engine repair shop for a brief period. With high aspirations and a love of people, he went to work for the Indiana State Police, Wonder Bread Hostess Cake for 33 years, before retiring from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2015. In 1987, Ron purchased the property adjacent to his parent’s house and built his forever home, where he would raise two beautiful children. Hilarious by nature, and at times a bit of a goofball, he appreciated life through humor. A deep lover of all animals, big and small, he was a genuinely loving, generous, and kind soul who loved his family deeply. Ron leaves behind his children Travis Ross (Charissa) of Monrovia and Kelly Ross-Foley (Joe) of Cumberland; siblings Mike Ross of West Lafayette, Teresa Edwards (Bill) of Martinsville, and James Ross (Freida) of CO; beloved grandchildren Payton, Parker, Joey, Ethan, Trevor, Charlie and Gretchen; along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning promptly at 2:05 p.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to help the family offset unexpected funeral expenses c/o Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, 585 E.
