Peggy Kivett

Peggy (White) Kivett, 89, of Hall, was unexpectedly called to Heaven a 11:02am, on Thursday, June 7th, while surrounded by loved ones, in St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville. She was born on February 9, 1929, in Indianapolis, to the late George and Bonnie (Thormyer) White. Peggy graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1946. Having met her soulmate on a blind date, she was united in marriage with Jack Adrian Kivett on October 17, 1948. The Kivett's were blessed with three children who were raised on the family farm in Hall. Peggy proudly attended nearly every sporting and 4-H event involving 3 generations of Kivetts. She was a great listener and someone to confide in. A loyal, kind and patient woman, she always took interest in what was happening on the farm. She adored her 3 great grandchildren who brought her much joy and happiness. In addition to caring for the house, raising children and chauffeuring people around the farm, Peggy worked as a bookkeeper for the American Camping Association at Bradford Woods, where she dedicated 32 years before retiring. She was extremely organized and disciplined; keeping financial ledgers of every penny spent and journaling details from each day. God, family, community and honor were important to her. She faithfully attended Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Hall, where she assisted with many bereavement meals with her friends in the Christian Women's Fellowship. Respected members of Gregg Township, Peggy and Jack donated acreage to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery from their farm. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, drawing, and was an avid reader. Peggy also liked to travel and looked forward to annual family vacations, most of which were car trips out West. Her life was lived to the fullest and even to her last day on earth, she remained self-sufficient and happy. Possessing a friendly smile and a heart of gold, Peggy was truly one of a kind and an absolutely wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Jack Kivett; son, Jeffrey Dale "Jeff" Kivett; and brother, Gail White. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Madison (husband, Bruce) of McHenry, Mississippi; son, Kevin Kivett (wife, Pam) of Hall; daughter-in-law, Dixie Kivett of Mooresville; sister, Kathleen McAdams of Indianapolis; grandsons, Aaron Kivett (wife, Tisha) and Adam Kivett (wife, Amber) both of Hall; great grandchildren, Rylee, Ryan, and Zoey Kivett. Also, her in-laws, Jay Kivett (wife, Sally) of Newburgh, Judy Smith of Brazil, Indiana, Mary Kivett of Hall, Hannah Fiege of Roscoe, Illinois and Nancy Jo Cassel (husband, Herb) of Franklin; step-grandson, Greg Brewer of Plainfield; step great grandsons, Chance, Caleb and Logan Brewer; along with a host of loving extended family members and many close friends. Friends and family are invited to visit from 2 to 5pm, on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11a.m., on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall and Pastor David Neese will be officiating services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monrovia High School FFA, the Monrovia 4-H Club or to the Mt.
