Peggy Adams

Peggy Ann Adams, 78, of Monrovia, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in the comfort of her own home and surrounded by loved ones. She was born on July 14, 1939, in Indianapolis, to the late Earl and Hazel “Marie” (Reynolds) Hyde. A woman with strong faith in God, Peggy will be remembered as kind and loving to all. A 1957 graduate of Martinsville, she fell in love with her high school sweetheart and classmate, Harold Adams; to whom she was united in marriage with on December 21st. Shortly after graduating, Harold began his career with Chrysler, where they relocated shortly after graduation to Madison near the Ohio River and then later, Peru, but always returned back to their property on Walnut Grove. In her younger days and although she couldn’t swim, Peggy and Harold burnt through many tanks of gas; sharing many boating memories together. She loved to go waterskiing and would have Harold pull her for miles. A woman that was also beautiful on the inside, her compassionate personality was one of a kind. She cherished the simple things in life such as owning and riding horses and going on family camping trips. The proud and loving parents of four children, the Adams raised their children in Morgan County and briefly in Peru. After Harold retired from Chrysler, they built a forever home and enjoyed caring for their property, home and spending time with their grand babies. Peggy attended the Monrovia United Methodist Church and in addition to being a wonderful role model and dedicated mother to her four children, Peggy worked with insurance companies. Capable of multi-tasking, she was a 4-H Leader for many years and girl scout and brownie troop leader for over twenty years. She was also a room mother for each of her kids and volunteered with the PTA committee and Peru Home Economics Club. Full of zest and passionate about life, Peggy was tiny yet mighty. A real-life superwoman, she did not hold back; never letting her fears get in the way. She enjoyed cooking, baking, hosting and entertaining at family get-to-gathers and always made sure that everyone ate. Peggy never met a stranger and was even known to engage in conversation with those who crossed her path. A nature enthusiast, she found therapy in gardening and loved her plants and flowers; having said, “that I did for myself, all other things I did for God and my family. Possessing a compassionate level of kindness, she was notoriously known to give second and even third chances to those in the wrong. She often displayed an abundant amount of honest and tough love with a boisterous way of affection. A faithful Christian, loving mother and wife, Peggy was a playful grandmother and friend to all. Her bright and cheerful demeanor will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Harold E. Adams of Monrovia; four beloved children, Annette Lucciola (husband, Emilio) of Plainfield, Scott Adams of Martinsville, Connie Adams of Mooresville and Julie Henderson (husband, Shawn) of Monrovia; sister, Susan Hyde of California; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Amber, Jake, Lucy, John, Antonio, Phillip, Ryland and Dustin; seven great grandchildren, Addie, Andrew, Austin, Hallie, Emily, Audrey and Maggie; along with a host of cherished in-laws, extended family members and dear friends. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 7:00p.m., on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, with Friends and family gathering prior to services from 5 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peggy’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
