Paula Kay Casillas-Blue

Paula Kay (Thomas) Casillas-Blue, 53, of Eminence, died way to soon in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 14, 2025, while in the comfort of her own home and surrounded by those that she loved the most. She was born in Indianapolis on June 10, 1972, to Paul David and Sharon Joyce (Breedlove) Thomas. A proud graduate from Decatur Central High School with the class of 1990, Paula followed her deep passion for animals as a Vet Technician. She was employed at various places throughout the years, including Sugar Grove Animal Hospital, Marion County Animal Control, and Southside Animal Shelter, devoting 20 years rescuing all animals she held near and dear to her heart. Switching gears later in life, Paula worked for St. Francis in Mooresville. Reconnecting with a boy named Mark that she met in high school at just the right time, the pair spent 20 years together, blending their beautiful families. Leaving the hustle and bustle of the city to be closer to Paula’s ailing parents, they settled into the serene country life of Morgan County, never looking back. Together they would take trips to Brown County to revel in the fall colors, view the colorful Christmas lights, and stroll through the vintage shops of Nashville. Vacations were spent at home so they could tend to her gardens, and she thoroughly enjoyed baking mouthwatering goods. Strong, independent, and hardworking, Paula had an affinity for coffee, frequenting Starbucks for her favorite cup of joe. Although she could be hard to please at times, she ruled the roost and was a stellar matriarch and wife. Her favorite times were spent with her family, hosting outdoor get togethers; her family meant the world to her! Driven and strong-willed, Paula was loving and a devoted grandma, mother, and wife. Leaving this world all too soon, she left her family with these words for her family: you have 5 minutes to mourn, now suck it up and take care of yourselves and your families. Paula is preceded in death by her father, Paul Thomas, and granddaughter, Ellie Freund. She leaves behind her husband, Mark Blue of Eminence; children, Randi Freund (Matthew) of Monrovia, Dylan Casillas (Diamond) of Eminence, Gary “Jerry” Blue (Gretchen) of Monrovia, and Breana Blue of Eminence; sister, Cammie Gregory (David) of Eminence; and grandchildren, Eli, Ethan, and Paul. Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, and per Paula’s wishes no services will be held.
