Opal Roberts

Opal Geneva (Casteel) Roberts, 91, of Indianapolis, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She was born in Loyall, Kentucky on October 16, 1926, to the late William and Alice (Hall) Casteel. A selfless, sweet, soft spoken, giving woman, Opal lived for her children. A selfless matriarch, she made sure their needs came first and would sacrifice anything for loved ones. Formerly a member of The Red Hat Society, she loved telling stories, traveling, shopping, playing gin rummy, singing hymns, gambling at the riverboat, but most of all, Opal Roberts knew the way to someone’s heart was through their stomach. She thoroughly loved to host and feed people. Blessed to live a long and full life, her loving presence will be greatly missed from this earth. Along with her parents, She was preceded in death by her companion, Leroy Nixon; sons, Wayne and Donnie Sizemore and Bobby Roberts; siblings, Mary Frances Sparks, Helen, James and Bill Casteel. Survivors include her children, Evelyn Williams of Lakeland, FL, Leslie (husband, Charlie) Dix, Roy “Michael” Roberts, Jerry Roberts, Patricia Weiber and Mona Sue Flanagan all of Indianapolis, and Randall (wife, Jennifer) Roberts of Marshall; siblings, Joyce Perry of Monroe, MI, Ronnie Casteel of Perrysville, OH and Bobby Casteel of TX; along with 34 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; a host of great, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12 Noon to 2:00pm., on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, in Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 2:00p.m. Services will conclude with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall and will be officiated by Pastor David Neese.
