Nakisha "Keke" Lynn (Crawford) Nwaokolo

Nakisha “Keke” Lynn (Crawford) Nwaokolo, 41 years young, native to Gary, Indiana and current resident in the Monrovia homestead, unexpectedly and prematurely departed from this world on Saturday, July 27, 2024, while at home caring for her son. Introduced into this world on Thursday, September 23, 1982, Nakisha was the youngest of the four Crawford daughters that were born and raised by Miss Gwendolyn (Herndon) Crawford; who survives. Nakisha was the youngest of three sisters, with two years between each sibling. She graduated from West Side High School in Gary, Indiana, in 2000. Interested in law, she pursued a criminal justice degree at Earlham College in Richmond. Following graduation, Nakisha worked downtown in Indianapolis first at Anthem Insurance and currently for Evolent Vanguard, processing Medicaid claims. She met Kelvin on social media in 2018 and married on November 14, 2020. The couple, originally from Speedway, are members of the Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Her world came into a different perspective the day that she became a mother to her very own beloved son, Nehemiah Emeka, was born on November 14, 2021. Nakisha was a devoted mother, wife, and friend. She was fiercely loyal to her family and always willing to help others. The family recently relocated from Speedway to Monrovia in April and were still settling into their new home. Survivors include her husband, Uche “Kelvin” Nwaokolo; mother, Gwendolyn Crawford; beloved son, Nehemiah Emeka Nwaokolo; stepchildren, James, Richard, and Grace Nwaokolo of Nigeria ; sisters, Tamara Crawford Harris (Byron), Niya Crawford, Tonisha Johnson (Bobby Jr.); along with her prized nieces/ nephews, Brandon and DeJana Crawford, Brittany Johnson, Deziraye, Bobby Johnson III, Eric White Jr., Bryant and Eryana Harris; goddaughter, Tamia “Mimi” Vincent; best friend, Keshia Thomas; in-laws, Christian Nwaokolo, Mary Nwaokolo- Azul, & Odis Nwaokolo; along with her spoiled little poodle, Sweetie. Friends and family are invited to Celebrate Keke's Life on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, located at 585 E. Main Street, Monrovia. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm, with visitation held from 12 Noon. Burial will be held across the street in the West Union Cemetery, in Monrovia.
