Mark A. Coffey Sr.

Mark Anthony Coffey, Sr., 57, of Mooresville, was inevitably released from debilitations and passed from this life on Sunday, August 16, 2020, after battling heart disease over the last several years. He was born one of eleven children on January 6, 1963, in Indianapolis, to the late Arvil and Georgia (Dobson) Coffey. Relocating to the country at the age of two, Mark and his family settled in Stilesville where he grew up attending Eminence High School. Meeting the love of his life at the age of 17 while working at the Blue and White Truck Stop, Mark married Patsy King on May 21, 1982 and from that point on his eyes never turned in another direction. With a strong work ethic and Christian upbringing, he pursued his skills and interest in masonry; operating and owning M.A Coffey Masonry. Meticulously driven and diligent to ensure each job surpassed all expectations, he settled to finish nothing shy of perfection. Blessed and more than proud of his two children, he made sure to share his knowledge and instill them with the same high standards. After building a forever home in 1999, he was inspired to begin a new construction venture and established Home Sensations. Inc. A man of a strong faith, he was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse on Thompson Road. An avid traveler, Patsy and Mark went on several road trips, cruises, and annual vacations to the Smokey Mountains with the grandchildren. Enjoying the outdoors, he loved to fish and garden. Financially conscious and partial to coupons, he truly liked to shop and could spend hours in any given store. Mark was an exceptional cook; feeding everyone that walked through the door. Above all, Patsy was his number one and he was most content when surrounded by the little people who were blessed to call him Papaw. Forced to endure several health complications with his heart, his spirit and the many memories shared will remain with all that knew and loved him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Gloria Pongonis, Cynthia, and Kathleen Coffey. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Patsy (King) Coffey of Monrovia; children, Mark, Jr. (wife, Rebecca) Coffey of Mooresville and Josh Coffey of Danville; siblings, Victor Coffey (wife, Cindy) of Greenwood, Susan Godbe (husband, Donald) of Clayton, Timothy Coffey (fiancé, Jennifer) of Blaine, Tennessee, Patrick Coffey of Danville, Tamela Howard of Avon, Shawn Coffey of Avon, Kristine Becker of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin, Joseph, Greyson, Emmit, Hadley and Brock Coffey; along with a host of extended family members, in-laws and friends. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation held from 4 to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, in Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at the funeral home, Pastor Tim Bryan will officiate, and burial will immediately follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. COVID-19 Statewide Mandate: Attendees are required to provide their own masks and wear facial coverings throughout the duration of services.
