Lois Jean (Jones) Thomas

Lois Jean (Jones) Thomas, 78, of Mooresville formally of Plainfield, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, peacefully while in the care of Meadow Lakes Nursing Home. She was born on November 9, 1944, in Clay, West Virginia, to the late Darnell Earl Jones & Louise (Beckett). After graduating in 1962 from the West Virginia Clay County High School she moved to Indiana and married Wilbur Thomas. Lois Jean, also known as (Bean) worked in data entry at the State Office Building for 50-plus years before retiring from the Indiana Employment Security Division. Being such kind-hearted, Lois would go out of her way to make certain people had what was needed. Always cooking and/or taking care of someone; she was known to be a well-spoken woman. One of Lois’s favorite pastimes was shopping both in-store and online ordering. She was a proud member of the Monrovia Nazarene Church and a believer in tithing to many. Jean loved God, her family, and her church. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Along with her parents, She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Jones; sisters, Arletta Brady, Sharon Bryant, and Norma June Mascoe (husband Bob). Survivors include her brother, David Jones of Indianapolis, brother-in-law, Otis Bryant of Martinsville; Niece, Linda Burke of Muncie, and Kathy (Bryant) Wirey of Martinsville; Great Nephew, Christopher Wirey (wife, Stephanie) of Martinsville; great great niece Kristen, Daisy, and Suzie Wirey; great great nephew Dallas Wirey. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday, July 17 with a Celebration of Life Service beginning promptly at 2:00 pm. Pastor Steve Pitman will officiate, and burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Light Memorial, 585 East Main St., Monrovia, IN 46157 to help to family offset final expenses and envelopes will be available during services.
