Kate Greene

Catherine Marie "Kate" (Angrick) Greene, 95, of Plainfield and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away at 11:25am, on April 5, 2018, in Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville. She was born on June 10, 1922, in Indianapolis, to the late, Frank and Mary (James) Angrick. Raised in Marion County, Kate attended Washington High School, from where she graduated at the age of seventeen. Always putting the needs of others before her own, Kate found happiness in helping and giving to those around her. A fan of Betty Boop and clown collector, she enjoyed cooking, making pies and crocheting. Kate retired from Link-Belt after 24 years. Above all, she was a selfless, outgoing, fun and happy person. Taking great pride in fulfilling the shoes of a loving mother and gram, she found joy in children, dogs and cats. She was an active past member of the Grandmother’s club; raising money for children’s hospitals and getting together with the ladies for monthly pitch-ins. In addition, she religiously tuned into the soaps on channel 6 and everyone knew that you didn’t interrupt her when General Hospital was on. Having been blessed with ninety-five years, she grew up when a dime was a dime with two brothers and two sisters; to whom she shared a very close relationship with and even bought adjoining property on Crab Tree Lane with her sisters. Full of love and kindness, Kate’s memory and “old-school” ways will remain in the hearts of her loving family and friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved infant daughter, Rodna Jean Greene; siblings, Lola Springate, Roy and Julius Angrick; and a grandchild, Kelly Knight. Survivors include her loving daughter, Penelope Ann “Penny” Donovan of Indianapolis; sister and neighbor, Gertrude “Gertie” Gruca of Plainfield; grandchildren, Mark Moran of Plainfield; Kathy English (husband, Al) of Clayton, Shannon Knight (wife, Renee) of Gosport, Shawn Knight (wife, LeEllen) of Clayton and Darren Knight of Indianapolis; along with 17 cherished great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12:30p.m. to 3:30p.m., on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 3:30p.m. and graveside services and interment will immediately follow in Center Valley Cemetery, Clayton.
