Juanita Gann

Juanita Faye Gann, 80, of Greenfield, passed away at home on March 22, 2026, at 6:20 pm. She was born on April 28, 1945, in London, Kentucky, to the late Theopolis “Thea" Gross and Dora (Hicks) Butrum. She spent her early years growing up in Indianapolis, where she developed a strong work ethic and caring nature that would define her life. Juanita attended Tech High School, graduating in 1962, and went on to pursue nursing studies at Ivy Tech. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working in several nursing homes in Indianapolis as a qualified medical assistant. Her career reflected her compassionate heart and commitment to helping those in need. After retiring from the medical field, she worked for Walmart. On July 6, 1963, Juanita married Curtis Gann, and the pair completed the family with the birth of four children. Her life truly revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she took great pride in raising her family, including as a strong and dedicated single mother. Family was everything to Juanita. She was known for her selfless nature, having cared not only for her children but also for her mother and her brother, Bob. Her giving spirit and unwavering dedication to those she loved will never be forgotten. Juanita had a lively personality and enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved spending time with her family, playing games like Yahtzee and Uno, and working on crossword puzzles and Sudoku. She also enjoyed card games, watching her favorite shows, and indulging in Coke and Lay’s chips. A fan of Elvis Presley, she fondly remembered attending his last concert in Indianapolis. Known for her sense of humor and strong will, Juanita could be both funny and a little stubborn, traits that endeared her to those who knew her best. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Along with her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wayne Gann; sons, Anthony and Gregory Gann; and brothers, Delmas and Robert Gross. She leaves behind her two daughters, Tammy Yager of Greenfield, and Tracy Cooper (Rick) of Monrovia; brother, Steve Gross of London, KY: grandchildren, Anthony Gann, Danielle Smith, Leeanna Meulen, Ashley Jordan, Curtis Meuler, Rebecca Rice, Emily Gann, Chyenne Depew, and Derrick Yager; along with ten great grandchildren. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Juanita will be laid to rest between her two sons, in the Gross Family Cemetery in London, KY with a graveside service on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00pm.
