James "Jamie" R. Brewer

James “Jamie” R. Brewer, Jr., 63, of Plainfield, and formerly of Monrovia, left this world unexpectedly on Sunday, October 8, 2023. He was born in Indianapolis on July 17, 1960, to the late James R. and Mattie J. Brewer. The true middle child of 9 kids, Jamie grew up in Wilbur in a tight knit family, the Brewer Gang, and was gifted with a wild imagination, along with his inherited artistic talent at an early age. He attended Monrovia High School and proudly enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his discharge, he met the woman, Carol, who would bless him with two beautiful children. A dedicated father, he held a solid work ethic working multiple jobs as an independent contractor in the flooring business, carpentry, then later as a Material Handler for Campbell Snacks, all to ensure his family was well provided for. Adventurous, the crew enjoyed vacationing to places such as Holiday world, Kings Island, Branson, MO, where he was brave enough to make a bungee jump, almost losing his life in the process, and especially camping in Turkey Run. Thoroughly creative at heart, Jamie was a talented artist creating detailed drawings, making clothes, singing and playing guitar, and putting those abilities into every aspect of his life. He adored Christmas and Halloween, going all out decorating yearly. A jokester, he held a somewhat dark sense of humor and had a knack for telling bad dad jokes. Goofy at times, but continuously boisterous, he was never afraid to be himself-take him or leave him, but we all took him into our hearts. A man of faith, he attended the Crossroads Church in Avon. Above all, he deeply loved his family and always wanted the best for his children. Leaving this world too soon, he will be forever missed. Along with his parents, Jamie was proceeded in death by his brother, Larry Brewer. He leaves behind his companion, Lisa Goodman of Oklahoma; children, Josh Brewer (Laura), and Amber Brewer (Josh), all of Indianapolis; siblings, Jeff Brewer (Darla) of Eminence, Michael Brewer (Shonda) of Mooresville, Robin Burdine (Glen) of Wilbur, Brian Brewer of Mooresville, Greg Brewer (Mitzi) of Bargersville, Steven Brewer (Sherry) of Avon, and Andrew Brewer (Patricia) of Clayton; sister-in-law, Lori brewer of Plainfield; granddaughter, Samantha Brewer; along with several nieces and nephews. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Jamie’s life at the Crossroads Church, 7209 E County Rd 100 S, Avon, IN 46123 on Tuesday, October 24, from 1:00pm until a Celebration of Life Memorial Service that will begin promptly at 2:00pm.
