Homer Wallin

Homer Wallin, 77, of Monrovia, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, in the comfort of his own home. He was born on March 9, 1939, in Brodhead, Kentucky, to the late Robert Ed and Eudell (McNeely) Wallin. A longtime resident of Morgan County, Homer has resided on Bunkerhill Road in the same house for 67 years. He attended Monrovia High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. He drove a truck and worked at the docks for Yellow Freight in Pontiac, Michigan for many years. An extraordinary, simple man, yet full of character, Homer had a knack for socializing and could spark up conversations everywhere he went. With a friendly, outgoing and humorous personality, Homer traveled various paths in life. He found his way and filled the missing piece when he was introduced to a woman named April Pedigo; to whom he was united in marriage on July 8, 1987 and blessed to share 29 years together. The Wallin’s ran local paper routes for 6 years. After an unexpected heart attack, Homer was forced to settle down and took interest in collecting vehicles and tinkering with odd and end things. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a proud owner of a Honda Gold Wing. In addition, he had an extensive shot glass collection and enjoyed listening to old country and bluegrass music. Homer will be deeply missed by his family and the many others that were blessed to cross his path. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Wallin. Survivors include his wife of nearly 30 years, April Wallin of Monrovia; children, Kevin Wallin (wife, Stacy) of Frankfort, Tony Greene (wife Tracy) of Florida, Ryan Wallin of Broad Ripple, Troy Wallin of Martinsville, Autumn Hinders (husband, Alan) of Lafayette, Joe Wallin of Greenwood and Josh Wallin of Danville; many grandchildren, with one great grandchild on the way. Friends and family may visit from 5 to 8pm, on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11am, on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
