Harold "Bo" J. Ashley Jr

Harold "Bo" Jones Ashley Jr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world unexpectedly on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at St. Francis Mooresville, at the age of 85. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 17, 1940, in Madison, Tennessee to the late Harold Jones Ashley Sr. and Susie Mae (Cook) Gentry. He moved to Monrovia Indiana around the age of 16 and graduated with the class of 1959 where he was also a member of the boys' basketball team that won the tri-county conference that same year. After graduation, he married the love of his life, Patricia Finchum, on August 27, 1961. They welcomed two sons and together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Bo lived a life defined by hard work. He spent many years as a Maintenance Manager at the 76 Truck Stop, before retiring in 2007. He had also worked at places such as Pheifer's Filling Station and Allison's Transmission. In his younger years, he enjoyed shooting skeet, league bowling and playing softball. He even coached Patty's softball team and called them "Bo's Bouncing Boobs". Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the heart of his life. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—quiet moments at home, time spent with loved ones, and the comfort of familiar routines. In his humble way, he showed that a meaningful life is built on love and presence. Harold Ashley will be remembered not for loud words or grand gestures, but for a life well lived—rooted in love, family, and quiet devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia "Pat" Ashley; son, Doug Ashley (Charlotte), grandchild, Drake Ashley (Andrew), and son Darrell Ashley (Becky); grandchildren; Derrick, Brandon and Tyler Bartee, and 8 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, George Gentry and brother, Ronnie Gentry. Cremation and Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather for a Graveside Service on Friday, April 17, at 11:00am in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, and Pastor Jimmy Shields will officiate. A bereavement dinner will be held at the Monrovia Christian Church, 710 Gordon Rd, Monrovia, IN 46157 at 12:30pm, and Bo’s family would like to extend a heartfelt invitation to those who wish to join in food and fellowship.
