Frances "Lorene" Eaker

Frances “Lorene” Eaker, 84, of Camby, Indiana, was released from her earthly ailments and called home to be with the Lord, while surrounded by her loved ones from within the comfort of her own home, at 8:15 a.m. on Friday, March 22nd, 2019. She was born on October 17th, 1934 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Bertie and Sarah (Stringer) Slagle. Frequently referred to by her middle name, “Lorene” she was the 3rd from the oldest of 7 Slagle children. Attending grade school in Wayne County Kentucky, then moving with her family to Indiana and attending Washington High School for a short time. She was blessed to have and hold the same hand for nearly seventy years, Robert and Lorene were joined in marriage 9 days after her 18th Birthday. Establishing the union of marriage on October 26th, 1952. The simple yet sweet, loving wife and Mother gave herself to service others. Lorene stood by her man throughout the years while managing to cook, clean and raise six of her own healthy, smart children. Selflessly devoted to acts of love and labor for God and Family. Now left with sweet dreams and memories, no one could ever take her place in the kitchen or duplicate a slice of her famous “Chocolate Pie”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertie and Sarah (Stringer) Slagle, and her siblings, Frank, James (Jim), Ernest Slagle and Myrtie (Slagle) McClure along with her son in law, Eddie Plummer. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert Eaker of Camby, six beloved children, Robert Eaker Jr. (wife Mary) of Camby, Carolyn Plummer-Perdue (Husband Don) of Mooresville, Linda Warner (Husband Tim) of Carmel, Laura Neeb (husband Scott) of Camby, Timothy Eaker (wife Christina) of Mooresville, Curtis Eaker of Greenwood, daughter-in-law Bridget Eaker of Indianapolis. She has 23 grandchildren as well as many loved great, and great great grandchildren! Her siblings, Bobby Slagle (wife Sandy) of Indianapolis, Paul Slagle (wife Robin) of Monrovia, along with a host of extended family members and cherished friendships over the years of attending Charity Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Charity Church, 2700 S. Tibbs Ave. Monday, March 25th. 2019. Friends and family can call from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will start at 1:00 p.m. Tim Eaker will officiate services along with Pastor David Gibson and Pastor Paul Slagle. A private burial will take place at West Newton Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Light Memorial and Funeral Chapel in Monrovia, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
