David Everett

David Lee Everett, 78, of Monrovia, passed from this life on Sunday, July 11, 2021, while surrounded by family in St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville. Raised on the eastside of Indianapolis, David was born the day after Christmas in 1942, to the late William C. and Dorothy (Muesing) Everett. David graduated from Warren Central High School in 1961, he pursued his passion for water and enlisted to serve in the United States Navy. Graduating from Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1962, he was honorably discharged serving his term of four years. He was able to watch two generations follow in his steps serving in the Navy. He worked at International Harvester for 29 years, where he was introduced to his co-worker's sister and found his forever and most special person, Ms. Barbara Allen. They were married at the Allen family farm on September 19, 1981 and were married for nearly 40 years. Dave enjoyed going with Barb on trips and cruises, eating out, watching the grandson play baseball, and woodworking in his shop. Barb and Dave enjoyed their winters in Bradenton, Florida, to escape from the cold. A hardworking father and faithfully devoted husband, he was most proud to be called Papaw. He was a member of West Union Friends Church in Monrovia, attended the Manatee United Methodist in Bradenton Florida, and member of UAW Local 933 in Indianapolis. A man with a strong and straightforward character and convictions. His memory will continue to live inside of the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Thomas Everett; and sisters-in-law, Joida and Peg Allen. Survivors include his loving wife and life partner, Barbara (Allen) Everett; children, Stephen Everett of Greenwood, Todd Everett (Carol) of Mooresville and Matt Everett (Ashley) of Martinsville; one adored grandson, Adyson Everett (Bella) of Norfolk; sister, Susan Everett of Indianapolis; in-laws, Carolyn Everett of Indianapolis, Jim and David Allen both of Monrovia; nephews, TJ and Joe Everett, Jay and Mike Allen, nieces, Jan Allen and Dylan Curtis. Friends and family are invited to visit from 4 to 7pm, on Thursday, July 15, 2021, in Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will begin at 11:00am, on Friday, July 16, 2021, at the funeral home. An inurnment of ashes will immediately follow across the street in West Union Friends Cemetery in Monrovia.
