David "Dave" Lee Jones

David “Dave” Lee Jones, Sr., 75, of Indianapolis and formerly of Monrovia, passed from this life on Friday, September 6, 2024, while in the comfort of his own home. He was born in Clay County, West Virginia to the late Darnell Earl and Louise Ella (Beckett) Jones. Raised in the small-town life of Monrovia with his 5 siblings, Dave picked up and moved to Indianapolis to find a job straight out of high school. While working at a gas station he met the girl he would spend the rest of his life with, Mae. The pair ran with a group of friends, and they clicked immediately, ultimately blending their two families into one. A hard worker, Dave was employed with Standard Dye for 16 years, later at Heartland Industries, then retiring from Vivolace. A motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed cruising with the wind in his hair. A hometown sports fan, he reveled in cheering on his favorite teams, the Colts and Pacers. Family trips consisted of camping at Leiber State Park, Boating and tubing on Cataract Lake, and throwing his line in the water to catch a few fish. A simple man who liked to stay private, Dave had a good sense of humor but was known to be hardheaded at times. He possessed a huge heart and a was truly a family man. He loved them deeply and his precious grandchildren had him wrapped around their little fingers from the moment they entered the world. He will be forever missed and loved. Along with his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his children, Davey Lee Jones, Jr. and Tabitha Sue Jones, and siblings, James Earl Jones, Arletta Brady, Sharon Bryant, Norma Jean Moscow, and Lois Jean Thomas. He leaves behind his partner in crime of 46 years, Mae Angermeier of Indianapolis; daughter, Jayme Kramer of Greenfield; daughter in law, Maryann Jones of Portsmouth, VA; grandchildren, David Lee Jones III, Tori Jones, Alicen Jones, all of Portsmouth, VA, Crayton Kramer, Kenzie Kramer, and Clover Kramer all of Greenfield, and Kacee Brock of Indianapolis; great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 11:00am until a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00pm. Pastor Keenan Steinway will officiate, and burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall.
