Damon J Martin

Damon J Martin, age 19, of Mooresville, was suddenly called to join his Papaw in Heaven, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in Hendricks County. Entering this world on a Tuesday, it was on May 22, 2001, that Amber (Donahue) and Tyler Martin, gave name to the 10.9 lbs. of perfection at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Having been the only child until the age of six, Damon kept his family on their toes and took his sweet time getting through the terrible twos. At six years old, his world forever changed when taking the role of Lylah's big brother. Primarily raised by his mother, Damon was above all his mother and sister’s protector; to whom was inseparable, and both absolutely adored. Accustomed with transferring schools, Damon was a natural when it came to making friends. An outgoing, thoughtful, and selfless young man, he had a way of captivating the crowd and he loved nothing more than to be surrounded in the company of family and friends. With video games and online gaming at the top of his list, he played on the Bulldogs Varsity Football Team and was on the swim team at Tri-West. Having an eclectic taste in music, he liked to bump out the system and was partial to rap. An avid fan of the Florida Gators, his favorite color was that bright blue. Sharing an unbreakable brotherly bond with 19 cousins, they were a pack to keep under supervision and a force that was not to be crossed. Most proud to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, Damon bravely enlisted to serve in United States Marine Corps, where was discharged from training due to an injury and was anxiously waiting to be cleared to return in August. With a great deal of potential and a world of possibilities ahead, it is beyond our own reasoning to find sense in the void that stands in his absence. Yet it is with a pure and golden heart, there was not a mean bone in Damon Martin’s body, and he lived a life of peace and love. Laughing and loving throughout the end of his days, may the genuine concern and fun spirited nature shine on through the ages and honor his legacy. His charismatic spirit and radiating presence will be greatly missed. Damon was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Thomas “Tom” Donahue; and cousin, Daulton Donahue. He leaves behind his loving mother, Amber (Donahue) Martin of Mooresville; father, Tyler Martin of Pittsboro; cherished sister, Lylah Martin of Mooresville; maternal grandmother, Donna Donahue of The Villages, Florida; paternal grandparents, Gus and Pat Martin of Pittsboro; great grandmothers, Joanne McFarland of Greencastle and Doris O'Hair of Brownsburg; aunts and uncles, Jamie, Shannon, Colleen, Heather (Steve), Kelly, Shawn Swopes, Kyle (Angela) Martin; 19 cherished cousins and a host of extended family members, former peers and friends. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8pm, on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, in Monrovia, with additional visitation held an hour prior to the funeral. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12 Noon, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the funeral home at the Funeral Home and services will be livestreamed on Facebook. A. Pastor Jack Elliott will officiate the services and burial will immediately follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
