Charles "Alan" Gossett

Charles “Alan” Gossett, 67, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Mooresville, passed from this life while in the care of St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 16, 1953, to the late Harold F. and Laura W. (France) Gossett. The oldest of three boys, Alan began his life in Indianapolis before the family moved to Mooresville, where he spent his youth. He attended Mooresville High School, was the champion member of the chess team until his Junior year, then he completed his education at Ben Davis High School, proudly graduating with the class of 1972. Born into a family of electricians, Alan was destined to become a Master Electrician, fine tuning his craft while taking over his father’s business, Bertram. He was a loyal member of the IBEW #481, retiring at 57 years young. An avid movie buff and akin to science fiction, Alan was known to spend an entire day in the movie theatre, watching various movies while munching popcorn. A season ticket holder, he was a dedicated Colts fan, cheering his favorite team from the stands. He spent his evenings playing poker with the guys, and his days playing chess and backgammon, passing his intelligence and logical thinking skills on to his children and grandchildren. Although Alan could sometimes be opinionated and tenacious, he was truly a generous, caring, and accepting soul. He wanted the best for his family and loved using his hands to build and install swing sets for the grandchildren to play on. He will be deeply and profoundly missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Gossett. Alan leaves behind his fiancé, Stacy Burton of Indianapolis; children, Brian Gossett of Indianapolis, Michelle Hall (husband, Ryan) of Danville, Elaina Gossett of Indianapolis, and Deanna Gross (husband, Gary) of Monrovia; brother, Jeff Gossett (wife, Torrie) of Mooresville; along with his beloved grandchildren, Lexi, Tyler, Ellen, Theodore “Teddy”, Jakob, Damien, Lennox, and Carmen. Funeral and Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Sean Wilson will officiate, and Alan will be inurned in Lincoln Memory Gardens at a later date.
