Brenda Francis Cross

Brenda Francis Cross (Stauch), 78, of Monrovia, entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in The Meadows of Mooresville. She was born in Indianapolis on August 9, 1941, to the late Gerald and Mary (Johnson) Stauch. Growing up on the east side, Brenda was a Warren Central High School Alum. She met her future husband, Allen, on a double date at the Fountain Square Movie Theatre. He won her heart and they were united in marriage on June 24, 1960. The pair moved from Indianapolis in 1978 and settled into life at Patton lake to raise their family. He spoiled her rotten throughout their marriage, and lovingly referred to her as “Red”. Crafty by nature, Brenda submersed herself in the joys of creating art. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and making her own jewelry. Later in life she discovered her passion as a talented painter, taking trips to Nashville with her best friend, Pam, to participate in classes. A dedicated member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Brenda adored her church family, as well as her own family. She was a loving and cherished mother, grandma and nana; hosting all holiday events. With an unwavering demeanor and fashionable appearance, Brenda had a tasteful way of expressing herself to others. A fancy, yet fair woman, she didn’t sugar coat the truth; she gave it to you straight from the hip. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Along with her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Cross; infant brothers and her beloved daughter, Kimberley Cross. Brenda leaves behind her children, Todd Cross (wife, Barb) of Martinsville, and Lisa Craig (husband, Jim) of Monrovia; grandchildren, Charissa Ross (husband, Travis) of Monrovia, Felicia Hamblen (husband, Kraig) of Louisiana, and Derrek Craig of Monrovia; great grandchildren, Payton, Parker, Kason, Ezra, Deklan, and a precious new baby girl on the way. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, January 20, 2020, in Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather prior to services from 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mark Boardman will officiate, and burial will follow at Nebo Memorial Park.
