Barb Everett

Barbara Lou (Allen) Everett, 82, life-long Monrovia resident, was relieved of all debilitating ailments on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, with her most precious people at her bedside at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. She was born in Martinsville, IN, on October 2, 1939, the only daughter to the late Jay and Cora (Ferguson) Allen. Raised on the Allen family farm, Barb was instilled with value of hard work and strong values, learning to tend to the land and the livestock at a young age. Full of ambition and aspiring to cultivate a career of her very own, Barbara proudly graduated from Monrovia High School with the class of 1957, and then furthered her studies at Indiana Business College. Briefly working for Diamond Chain Company, she later secured employment as the Executive Assistant to multiple CEOs of American States Insurance. Fully established and at the age of 39, her brother introduced her to a co-worker named, David, and they were united in marriage on September 19, 1981. Deservingly retiring after 38 years of dedicated service at American States in 1998, Barb moved on to the next phase of life, enjoying a life of travel and leisure. A nature enthusiast her entire life, she delighted in working with her flowers every spring and summer. Enrolling in cake decorating classes, she mastered the basics, making many delicious treats for family and friends over the years--including her own wedding cake! She also enjoyed quilting and leaves behind many beautiful pieces. Florida was one of Barb's favorite places and she always looked forward to making the trip. David and Barb traveled extensively around the country and to several foreign countries always returning to Sunday services at West Union Friends Meeting where she was a lifelong member. Her warm and caring presence will be forever missed. Along with her parents and husband of 40 years, David Everett, she was preceded in death by her older brother, Jim Allen; along with her sisters-in-law, Susan Everett, Peg, Kay and Joida Allen. Barbara leaves behind her children, Stephen Everett of Greenwood, Todd Everett (Carol) of Mooresville and Matthew Everett (Ashley) of Martinsville; beloved grandson, Adyson Everett (Bella) of Norfolk; brother, Dave Allen of Monrovia; sister-in-law, Carolyn Everett of Indianapolis; and nieces and nephews, Janette Allen (Lafayette), Dylan Curtis (Kelly), Jay Allen (Carlos), Mike Allen (Lori), TJ, and Joe Everett. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Monday March 14, 2022 at Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. An additional hour of visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, from noon until the Celebration of Life Service will be held promptly at 1:00pm. Pastor Daniel Lee will officiate and burial will immediately follow in West Union Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West Union Friends Meeting 2002 SR 42, Monrovia, Indiana 46157.
